Life in London

Whassup? Life in the world's most cosmopolitan city, that's what! Everyday, there's something to be celebrated, so I thought we could, together: something more wholehearted than the lust for money that drives so many of us; something more communal than our town's never-ceasing ambition; something more fun than the the soul-destroying celebrity-worship we're force fed daily via TV, radio and the interminable free transport press (I need mention no names!)

So what's first? My colleagues and I have recently been Larman-ised! I, and a few of my illustrious colleagues at Michael Page International (MPI)'s IT team, spent two days last week under the influence of one of the world's top Agile software development and UML gurus, Craig Larman. Why is it worth celebrating? Because Agile project management is just more-people focussed, productive and fun than all our favourite, old, boring and risky waterfall methods.

We've been having a go at SCRUM in the last 6 months at MPI. It's been pretty successful (we delivered this using it) but we all learned a few new things and are keen to try more of the Agile way out - whiteboards, video conferencing, more collaboration - better results! And Craig's great fun - he only teaches a couple of courses a year in London - so catch him when he's next in town - if you can!
